Several days ago I started working for Sky, a company that is owned by that evil bastard Rupert Murdoch. This for me was to be little more than a stop-gap job until I found something real to do. The job entailed me being part of the technical support team for the forthcoming Sky Broadband service that is currently being hawked at every media outlet.
"If you hold out for your 13 weeks probationary period you'll be given free Sky TV,"; was the main rhetoric that came from the lips of every soulless cabbage working there.
Oh Jesus! Lucky freaking me! I can’t imagine anything more exciting than being surrounded with Sky propaganda for 39 hours every week, and then coming home to have that bullshit beamed directly into my living room.
Well, I’m happy to say I didn’t last 13 hours in that job. After two days of attending their team playing, group hugging, pointless fucking training program, I came over all faint-like and vomited the entire contents of my stomach into their toilet bowl.
Some would say it was a touch of food poisoning brought on by the unnaturally warm weather we’ve been experiencing here in Britain; but I like to think of it as an exorcism of a poison that seeped it’s way deep into my soul and needed to be expelled.
No matter how much Sky try and make their company a "fun place to work" - whether it be through pasting up posters of The Simpsons everywhere or filling the entire office with sand and throwing around beach balls - the fact remains that you can't dress up evil in any way that’s not going to make it look like the equivalent of a twelve foot gorilla in drag.
Everything about the company is suspect and their so-called "Free Broadband For Existing Sky Customers" still requires a £40 activation fee that will only give you a laughable 2GB monthly download allowance. Any fucking dipshit could use that up in the space of an afternoon for christsakes!
Other packages purport to supply you with a 16Mb download speed, which would be a clever trick given that most telephone lines around Britain aren’t capable of much more than 8Mb (and that’s only if you live right next door to the exchange).
Don’t opt for this service provider. Firstly, you are only going to donate more cash to Murdoch’s evil empire, and secondly, it is doomed for failure.
Nobody has a clue what the fuck they are doing, how the system works, how it is going to be installed, or even how it is going to be maintained without shaping bandwidth.
Oh yeah, and one more thing to anyone working in the training department of that evil corporate conglomerate: it’s not wise to instil fear into your employees with threats of what might happen if they speak out negatively against the company. First of all, I’ve got another job lined up. Secondly, some of us are reckless motherfuckers and couldn’t give a shit.
