Monday, July 31. 2017Is Net Neutrality An Essential Right?Despite the distractions caused by recent scandals and the ongoing drama of U.S. politics at the moment, net neutrality is still at the center of much debate. Some efforts to remove it have even moved forward in Congress, much to the chagrin of supporters and to the benefit of internet service providers (ISPs). The FCC has recently considered killing net neutrality, bringing the issue to the forefront of interested parties’ radars. Continue reading "Is Net Neutrality An Essential Right?" Tuesday, February 28. 2017Introducing The Bushcraft BothierI've decided to start video documenting my off-grid trips. Thursday, February 16. 2017The Power Of Big Data & PsychographicsThe argument that you only use Facebook to keep in touch with your family and friends is a bullshit one. It's the same piss poor argument that you make by stating that you only read The Sun or Daily Record for the sports pages and TV listings - yet still you end up adopting the same skewed moral arguments that the newspaper presents to you. Somehow, their agenda has infected your weak and tragic little mind. Sunday, January 29. 2017Scientists Create Online "Resistance" Movement Against Trump Administration'Science is under attack. Tuesday, January 17. 2017Wee Ginger Dug: "Don’t Wait For Permission - Scotland's Future Is In Our Hands"'There’s no desire for another independence referendum, or so we keep being told. Scotland is perfectly content to be led down paths its people haven’t chosen. We’re happy to get the opposite to what we voted for. We don’t mind that during the independence referendum we were offered a choice between door A behind which was independence or door B behind which was safer faster better change, job security, EU membership, the guarantee that the NHS was safe, and a promise that Scotland would be an equal partner in a family of nations. So Scotland chose door B and discovered that what was behind it was sclerosis, job losses, leaving the EU, and an NHS that the Scottish Government can only protect by making cuts in other spending - a strategy that can’t continue indefinitely. And we discovered the promise that Scotland was an equal partner was just a blatantly cynical lie. Yet if we complain about this the Unionist parties tell us that we chose door B, that’s democracy, respect the result. It was recently reported to have reached a new low. Our guest, NASA’s Walt Meier explains why this is the case and which processes govern the increase or decrease of the ice. We then discuss how the ice mass is measured based on satellite and how its thickness is estimated based mostly on in-situ measurements. We cover climate modelling and its connection to sea ice and conclude with an outlook on future research.' (Omega Tau podcast). Monday, June 13. 2016The Evolutionary Argument Against Reality'As we go about our daily lives, we tend to assume that our perceptions - sights, sounds, textures, tastes - are an accurate portrayal of the real world. Sure, when we stop and think about it - or when we find ourselves fooled by a perceptual illusion - we realize with a jolt that what we perceive is never the world directly, but rather our brain’s best guess at what that world is like, a kind of internal simulation of an external reality. Still, we bank on the fact that our simulation is a reasonably decent one. If it wasn’t, wouldn’t evolution have weeded us out by now? The true reality might be forever beyond our reach, but surely our senses give us at least an inkling of what it’s really like. Thursday, June 2. 2016Now Available: 'Magick Without Fear - The Gerald Suster Letters''Gerald Suster (1951-2001) can be considered one of the most important occultists of the late-20th century. A prolific writer, esteemed historian and advocate of Thelemic Magick, he is best known for his biographies of Aleister Crowley (The Legacy of the Beast) & Israel Regardie (Crowley’s Apprentice). Often described as a somewhat controversial and provocative character, Gerald made best use of these attributes in his published books and writings, employing common sense and wit to demolish all preconceived notions of what Magick is and how it might be utilised to further advance and accelerate human evolution. Note: my sincerest apologies for the somewhat hefty price of £24.99 which is due primarily to the greed of third party retailers like Amazon. For a company that has cornered the market in just about everything, they certainly like a large slice of the pie in return for promotion and quick turnaround delivery. Rest assured, however, that I am currently looking into setting up an individually run online store in an effort to undercut the set price of this book quite considerably, and I hope to also offer signed copies for those who want it. That said, the book comprises of 428 pages in A4 format (20.98 cm x 29.69 cm) and publishers Lulu have done an outstanding job on the quality and production. If you are going to buy it, please consider buying direct from the publisher. Even though they can't offer as quick a turnaround in delivery as Amazon, it is worth doing just to stick the finger up to multinational corporate greed. (Lulu shop). Friday, March 4. 2016Rupert Sheldrake's Banned TED Talk: The Science DelusionOn January 12th, 2013, Rupert Sheldrake gave a talk entitled 'The Science Delusion' at TEDxWhitechapel. The theme for the night was 'Visions for Transition: Challenging existing paradigms and redefining values (for a more beautiful world)'. In response to protests from two militant materialist bloggers in the US, the talk was later taken down by TED and placed in a special corner of their website. Before it was removed from their main website it had had about 35,000 views. Since it was "banned" it has been seen by at least half a million people... Tuesday, March 1. 2016Coming Soon: 'Magick Without Fear - The Gerald Suster Letters'A sneak peak at a cover concept I have for Magick Without Fear - The Gerald Suster Letters which I hope to release before the summer 2016: Sunday, February 28. 2016Decentralisation: An Evolutionary Biologist's StandpointOne thing that rarely gets expressed by the Corporate Controlled Media is that Scottish Nationalism is in essence Civic Nationalism, meaning that it is inclusive of different cultural backgrounds and that the only nationalistic element of it is the acceptance that Scotland is made up of people from all corners of the globe but needs its independence in order to survive and flourish. In order for a country to function as a successful decentralised organism it is imperative that it is able to generate its own wealth, use its own resources, and trade the excesses of these resources successfully with other decentralised organisms for the resources in which it lacks but requires for a healthy and fruitful society. It’s how biology has evolved over the millennia and decentralisation will happen to humans if we are to evolve. I found this video interview a year or so ago with an evolutionary biologist whilst researching something that was completely unrelated to politics. I was stunned by the common sense expressed regarding the importance of decentralisation within evolutionary biology, and the parallels between how the human body operates and the clear way in which the world as a global society needs to operate if we are to survive as a species...
